A Long Journey
Iverstine Butcher started with a simple idea: raise animals the right way and keep food honest. From a small farm in Kentwood to opening the butcher shop in Baton Rouge in 2016, Galen Iverstine has worked to bring pasture-raised meats and local goods straight to the community. It’s all about good food, good people, and knowing where it comes from.
A Greater Reach
Iverstine’s new location expanded their footprint with a larger butcher shop, market, kitchen, and dining space—an upgrade from their original storefront. The new space has quickly become a local favorite and even earned national attention on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. More than just a restaurant, it furthers Iverstine’s mission of bringing sustainably raised, local meats to the community.

From Farm to Butcher to Table
What began in 2010 with just a few cows, pigs, and chickens grew into Iverstine Butcher, Baton Rouge’s only whole-animal butcher shop. Rooted in sustainable farming and respect for the land, they built a loyal customer base by offering grass-fed, pasture-raised meats and eventually expanded to include a restaurant. Today, they continue to bring the community unique, locally sourced products while honoring farmers, animals, and the environment.
