Neighbor’s
Federal Credit Union provides retail financial
services in nine parishes to its member/owners. In
2004 NFCU, along with design professional Crump,
Wilson and general contractor Mike Grand, began a
multi-year expansion plan to address the current and
future needs of its members as well as a complete
re-branding of their organization. CWA and Grand
jointly developed the new branch prototype concept,
including a light and spacious welcome area, smaller
intimate areas for individual sales consultations,
and an easily- identifiable exterior brand. New
branches in Zachary and Denham Springs were
constructed in 2005.
In
February 2006, Grand Construction Company began
construction on the third new branch on Howell Drive
in Baton Rouge. As with the others, the building
features a 22’ high central arcade supported by
steel columns, expansive windows at both ends and
along the top of each side, and product sales areas
on either side of the arcade. The exterior combines
features masonry and stucco alongside the window
system, producing a striking and unique new brand
for NFCU. Other features include a shallow
foundation with intersecting grade beams, custom
interior finishes and millwork, state-of-the-art
banking communications and data systems, and
provisions for future expansion of the drive-through
lanes. Construction was completed in November 2006,
on-schedule.
